Project Manager
Professional, Vocational & English Language Training
Australia
"“I work for the Professional, Vocational and English Language Training division of Pearson Australia. Some of our current goals are focused on changing the market's perception of us as ‘the book people', and to increase sales directly to institutions. As Project Manager, I am helping to achieve this by working on new digital product initiatives that will be institutional purchases, as opposed to student purchases.
The major project I am currently working on is a series of online modules to support the delivery of Children's Services qualifications. The modules will be available to institutes to deliver through their chosen Learning Management System, and will refer to Pearson eTexts for underpinning knowledge. We are working closely with an external vendor to produce templates for the project, which will hopefully enable us to produce similar elearning modules for different subject areas in the near future."

Nguyet Do
Sales Manager ELT and Global Schools
Vietnam
"I started my career at Pearson Vietnam as an ELT (English Language Teaching) Sales Representative back in August 2007. My responsibilities have been expanded since then. Now I am the Sales Manager and in charge of both ELT and Global Schools in Vietnam.
Together with the sales team, I work with the government, language schools, international/bilingual schools, institutes, universities, and educators across the country to improve their teaching/learning programmes and quality through a wide range of Pearson resources in ELT, Global Schools, and more in some cases. When saying ‘resources’, I mean our products and services in a variety of forms. We are trying to promote Pearson as a leading company in education, not just an educational publisher, so that we can support our customers in all areas including content (print and digital), curriculum design, assessment and accreditation, professional development, and educational research.
What I love most about working here is that there is always something for me to learn every day, from my colleagues, customers, the dynamic market, and especially the unlimited ever-changing resource at Pearson. Also, the idea that I can contribute my part, however small it is, to improving people’s lives through education really motivates me to learn and accomplish more in my career." |

Managing Director
Singapore
"Hi, my name is Andrew Fong and I am the Managing Director for Pearson Singapore.
I am into my seventh year with Pearson and just assumed my current portfolio this year—having taken on the roles of Sales & Marketing Director (Schools) and General Manager (Higher & Professional Education) at various times over the past six years.
I am based in Singapore. The pace of life here is very fast but also very exciting. Our office is situated at the far end of the island (just about a stone’s throw away from neighbouring Malaysia!) while I live at the opposite end. Even then, I enjoy coming to work every day simply because of the abundance of talented and warm colleagues in the office.
My job requires me to provide business leadership and develop our strategic vision, including strategic planning and execution of business growth plans to boost sales, profits and efficiency. I work very closely with my fellow management colleagues to oversee a variety of functions such as budgeting and financial forecasting, leading major projects and events, co-ordinating product development and delivery and securing local and global partners." |

"My role is to oversee marketing, research, and educational services initiatives and activities across Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.
I am very excited to be part of Pearson in this transformational age, as we transform from being a traditional textbook selling business to providing all-round education solutions to meet individual customers' needs. There are many challenges as part of the change, but I believe this is where the fun comes from. I very much look forward to help facilitate the process through marketing the idea of change itself, as well as the services we provide, and I believe that what we are doing will really help people learn." |

"As Marketing Manager for the Higher Education division in Asia Pacific, I work with sales and marketing teams to plan and execute marketing activities across the region. One of the perks of the role is that I get to tap into the creativity of sales and marketing people to develop interesting ideas for our activities. I also work closely with marketing colleagues outside Asia Pacific to share marketing ideas and learn best practices.
My biggest satisfaction comes from customers feeling they have learned something beneficial from our activities and I have learned from them as well." |

Tomoko Komatsu
Head of Editorial and Design Buying
ELT Publishing Division
Pearson Kirihara K.K.
Japan
"The main role of the Head of Editorial and Design Buying is to manage both in-house and freelance editorial resources for projects of ELT (English Language Teaching) products. I also oversee the design side of them. On top of these responsibilities, I have been leading the Transformation of the ELT Publishing Team Project, since last summer. To work more efficiently in preparation for digital product development, the structure and existing roles and responsibilities in the publishing division had to be reorganized and the workflow needed to be redesigned. Now the project has entered its second phase: implementation. I have never been so eager to equip myself with more knowledge, skills, and tools to manage change and to keep the transformation moving forward successfully.
I joined Pearson in 2008. Since then I have been fortunate enough to work with a number of great people and each one of them has taught me a lot. They were sometimes peers within my team, senior managers from various parts of the world, or customers and authors. Each one of them is an expert in a very diverse area but they are all equally passionate to be part of education and believe in its power. They are all my great mentors.
I have been in the publishing industry for more than ten years. I have a design background as well as editorial. I studied American contemporary poetry at university and earned an MA in English as well as a teaching diploma.
Besides work, I have been practicing yoga since 2003. This is another source of my energy and concentration." |

Head of Marketing
Schools Division
Australia
"I'm the Head of Marketing for the K-12 business in Australia.
My role is to lead a creative and savvy group of marketers to bring our strategies to life. We believe that Pearson is the perfect partner to help teachers, students and parents manage the constant in their lives—change. Changes that technology and new curriculum are bringing to learning.
We talk to individuals about their specific needs via the channels that suit them: social media, direct mail and even remarketing to help us have these conversations. We create direct selling programs that get us closer to customers and take some of the pressure away from a face-to-face selling team. One of the ways we do this is to deliver user-friendly online experiences that make it easy for customers to search, try and buy our services and solutions.
We host dynamic industry events and we have a full calendar of professional development offers." |
